How I passed the Full FRM Exam
I think I spent at most 50 hours studying. Be prepared with Kaplan Schweser. Schweser reading texts are great but the practice questions are not any where near the difficulty of the real exams but Bionic questions are about par with the difficulty of the real exams this observation is common among materiall good number of FRM candidates.
You need to be stduy with your time, and that calls for practice. I think I was better off studying Hull which helped me get 1st quartile in market risk and 2nd quartile in Risk models schweser is horrible for ops risk and credit risk.
In order to become a certified Financial Risk Manager, you need to pass two challenging exams. The hand book is huge its hard to go through the entire material but I felt some of the FRM questions are entirely based on the FRM hand book examples that were used for explaining the concepts.

This is not to say that success is guaranteed if anyone follows this advice; maybe it just worked for me as we all have our peculiar circumstances that determine our ultimate chances. I found the studying and exam questions on the FRM to be pretty straightforward, with the exception of a scant studj questions on the exam.
This was my combination and I am glad to say I passed both parts in the last Nov exam. I used Schweser for studying but used Bionic Turtle for practice questions. Core readings for quant helped me to get 1st quartile in quant Read Hull Chapters since 20 odd chapters are from Hull text thru out the FRM Curriculam Skimmed through Schweser Studied Handbook and diligently solved all the Handbook matterial except credit risk and Investment management.
Will start my CFA soon and will definitely use Schweser again. If I were to do it again I would use BT as my prep material and refer hand book to clarify doubts on tough concepts and may be Schweser for review.
The part II exam carries 80 questions, slightly less than part I. More than 3, FRM practice questions designed to build up your knowledge base step by step.
