It is mostly a low-grade who-done-it combined with a low grade horror story featuring two famous Vampires- Bathory and Dracula. As a sequel to Dracula though it leaves one at turns disgusted and sorely disapointed.

That’s when you will think “Did I just waste my time? Once the reader gets an idea for where the story may be headed, it takes another turn as if the camera cuts away from this scene to start a completely new one and so on and so on.
In short I am half tue that the Vampires didn’t Sparkle. The horror is repetitive, poorly-written, and downright silly. I was thrown off for a bit with that and also Oscar Wilde being mentioned.
A badly written,badly researched non-sequel. The sequel will be competing with two other high profile vampire novels published next year: If you are a serious Dracula nerd, you may find some enjoyment in the in-jokes sprinkled through the pages, but if you’re not a fanboy, look draculx for your vampire fix.
But I think the writers did not know where they wanted to go with this story.

This is also apparent in the negative reaction given to the authors themselves. It carries with it the unsettling suggestion that we might have been wrong – maybe anyone can write dtacula novel. Everything that was amazing, classic and wonderful about Dracula was unraveled in a few chapters of this “sequel”. My second argument for the monstrosity of Dracula the Undead concerns intertextuality and chronology.
Stoker and Holt for entertaining and engaging me at times as I made my way through this novel. Could it be that Dracula somehow survived their attack and is seeking revenge?
Although I can see what the writers where trying to get at with with the characters they just needed to spend more time on them, I think. Want to Read saving….
