Ever since the second edition of Guy Aitchison’s flagship educational package Reinventing The Tattoo was released, he has been planning the electronic edition, which can be regularly updated to keep up with the rapid pace of change in our industry.

So about six months ago, my mentor and I agreed I could start doing simple stuff, assuming I followed BBP procedures, out here to get a feel for it. The DVD contains 40 detailed videos that relate directly the material in the book. His chapter compliments and acts as a great introduction to the rest of the Photoshop chapters which follow.

Part of what makes aitcgison impressively nuanced tattoo work possible is his process of working in layers- that is, in a large piece, instead of finishing a different part in each session, the whole design gets a light coat each sighting and is built up like aihchison classic oil painting, making possible a whole range of new visual effects.
